All FAQs
How do I know which cover is right for me?

Start with what would worry you most: leaving family short, a serious illness, or losing your income. Our two-minute quiz points you in the right direction, and a conversation with us fills in the detail. We’ll only suggest cover that fits your situation and budget.

Is your advice tailored to me?

Yes, every time. Every conversation is one-to-one, with a person rather than a script, so the advice fits your situation, your family and your budget.

How do I get started?

Fill in our short enquiry form, call us on 0161 884 9480, or pick how you’d like us to contact you: phone, email or text. We’ll arrange a time that suits you.

Does it cost anything to talk to you?

No. The first conversation is free and there’s no obligation. If you go ahead, we’re usually paid by commission from the insurer, and we’ll explain exactly how that works before you decide.

Do you search the whole market?

We compare policies from a panel of leading UK insurers through The Openwork Partnership. We’ll tell you which insurers we’ve looked at and why we’ve recommended one over another.

Can I talk to you outside office hours?

We’re a small team and try to fit around you. Tell us the best time to call when you get in touch, and we’ll do our best to make it work.

Do I need a medical?

Usually not. Most applications are completed over the phone with health and lifestyle questions. Sometimes insurers ask for a GP report or a short nurse screening, which they arrange and pay for.

What happens if I need to claim?

Call us first. We’ll help you contact the insurer, explain what they need and keep in touch until it’s settled. That’s part of having an adviser rather than buying online.

What does ‘in trust’ mean?

Writing a policy in trust means the payout goes to the people you choose, usually faster and without waiting for probate. It can also keep the money outside your estate for inheritance tax. We’ll help with the forms.

Can you review cover I already have?

Yes. Many people have policies that no longer match their mortgage, family or income. We’ll look at what you have and tell you honestly if it still does the job.

Can I change my mind?

Yes. Protection policies come with a cooling-off period, usually 30 days, during which you can cancel.

Do you help businesses?

Yes. We advise on key person cover, relevant life policies, shareholder protection and business loan protection, and we work alongside your accountant and solicitor.
